Hello! I am Darby AM, an aspiring author of novels and short stories. My writing spans fantasy, romance, and psychological horror, exploring themes of found family, redemption, learning to love yourself, and loneliness. As an LGBTQ+ author, I’m very passionate about diversity and engaging narratives.

Originally from Southern California, I spent my formative years in Southern Utah, where my love for writing started to blossom. My first work was when I was eight years old— it was about a rainbow unicorn named Mystery, but I couldn’t tell you much else anymore. I continued to write, improving my craft until I moved on to the next big step a lot of writers make— fanfiction! While I didn’t know the name at the time, I was writing Teen Titans x Winx club crossovers long before I thought it was cool. I moved onto bigger and better things as I grew up, namely a 100k word unshared Naruto fanfic and a 50k word Inuyasha fanfic. Sesshomaru was hot, sue me.

Imagination has always been my strongest suit, fueled by the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien, whose works have deeply influenced my passion. I draw inspiration from many sources, namely video games I play such as Final Fantasy and the Elder Scrolls series, or other books and movies like Pirates of the Caribbean or Eragon.
